Recently, I had a Sleep Study. This procedure is done in a special facility, with all the appropriate equipment and personnel there. The arrival time is 9:30pm, and then you are discharged the following morning between 5:30 and 6:00 am. Fortunately, this means that since I was traveling west-east, I got to see both a sunset and a sunrise. What a treat! I love these daily reminders from God, that informs everyone that yes, you got another day on planet Earth. As we know, not everyone gets this next day, and eventually that will be us, but no matter: WE GOT THIS ONE! I have always loved this fine example of God’s Faithfulness to man. And man, as you know, could never reciprocate in kind. My little mind hears Our Heavenly Father saying “Mankind, I am gifting you a 24-hour day. It is yours to squander or enjoy. It is yours to fruitfully utilize or to waste. And should you mistakenly choose to waste it, I love you so much that I will give you another day to try again to do it right. And even after your days on earth come to an end, I will continue the sunrise/sunset pattern for all who remain. That is my forever gift to my children.” My goal is to be a worthy custodian of this beautiful gift, which God gives to all of us, whether or not we deserve it. Now that is a humbling thought.
