September 20 Martha's Musings

In the ever-changing mist of this situation we call “life”, things can become quite challenging. One day, all is well – your bills are paid, your marriage is happy, the kids and grandkids are doing well, and then – you have a plumbing leak. Your home of 25 years is a huge mess. And the paperwork – oh my, that paperwork! You complete everything that the insurance company assured you was required, send it in promptly, and then wait. And wait some more. When no news is NOT good news, you take the bull by the horns and call them. And they tell you that not only have they not received your paperwork, the same paperwork they assured you the week before was received and processed, but now there are other forms to complete. GGRRR!! So, to make life at the BNB more home-like, you stop by and pick up a few things, one of which is a set of doggie steps to help your youngest (and shortest) dog to get on the bed. Once you get it home, you and Hubby note that, for some reason, it is not sitting evenly on the floor. No one panics, just decide to figure out what is wrong the next day. You check it one more time before going to bed, trying to see if the problem is obvious, but it is not. So off to bed you go. Then, the next day – THE STEPS ARE FIXED! The entire piece is sitting flat on the floor, just as it is supposed to do. So, you ask Hubby if he fixed it, which he did not. Did it fix itself? Did a friendly ghost with mechanical inclinations stop by to take care of it? Or did the Lord God deem it fixed and thus it was? That is the only logical explanation for people of faith, which we both are. For our Heavenly Father wants us to have peace, even during a total home redo. How better to point out that He is in charge than by fixing something inconsequential in a truly miraculous way. I felt Him say, quite plainly, “All is well, I remain in charge.” And I know that, I really do, but boy did I need a reminder. The God of unsteady doggie stairs is also the God of major plumbing disasters. However things work out, we sleep well at night knowing that God is ALWAYS with us. It is a comforting truth, which I felt compelled to share with you. Keep your eyes, ears, and heart open, and see what God is already doing for you.
