The Reason For Miracles (10.12.25)

These passages paint a picture of Elisha as a prophet of mercy that God used at different points to bring hope to people and to give them ways to say, "See how God moved!" Many of Elisha's actions resemble Elijah's work, but even more the works of Jesus. As we read of Elisha, we are reminded that the mercy and kindness of God were present in historical Israel just as they are in the church. Jesus knew that the heart could not receive eternal hope if the belly rumbles too loudly to hear.
