Greed and Envy tend to get mixed together, but while envy desire to take from others, greed desires to store up and keep things from others for oneself. The sin of greed makes us become hoarders of stuff (money, possessions, food, cars, lovers, etc.). Greed tells us that we need to be prepared for anything to happen, so store up for tomorrow because we don't know what will happen. Unfortunately, Jesus preaches a different message. See the lily of the field and the bird of the air...they have faith and hope in the ultimate of providers, God. On Palm Sunday, the crowds are looking to Jesus to do away with the Romans, they are looking for a reason for hope, and it is the hope that walks through Jerusalem that day that should allow us to stop planning for tomorrow and live for God today.
