In a broken world it is not a surprise to find that humanity does almost more harm to one another than we do good, and no matter how righteous you think you are when you are injured it is natural to want to seek revenge on the person....or at the very least receive an apology. Wrath is the sin that brings that anger to the surface and enflames the injured. It is so easy to see ourselves as victim and demand retribution for the wrong or hurt done to us. However, Jesus teaches a different lesson. Forgiveness might just be the most unpopular of all the Christian virtues because it seems like we must deny the hurt that we have received. But if we understand forgiveness correctly, then we find that it truly is one of the most liberating things we can ever do.
