Yesterday, before I drove off to Walmart, it occurred to me that rain had been forecast. I looked out the window, but the sky was obscured by our very large red oak trees. I got in the car and as I drove off, the sky appeared. I said to myself “Just look up, Martha. Just look up.” And sure enough, the very cloudy sky appeared before me. Those clouds were rain clouds, so rain was on the way. Thankfully, Georgetown had a downpour! Grateful for my umbrella, my shopping at Walmart was successful, and I got home in time to unload and head off to church to attend the Single Board Meeting. I enjoy these meetings, as I like hearing about both current and upcoming events. Then this happened – Pastor Roger was giving the Pastor’s report, and he shared part of an article that he recently read about specific points of worship. Can you guess what the first one was? “Reach upward: love and honor God first and foremost.” Sounded a lot like “look up” to me. In my life, these things are not coincidences – they are messages that God is trying to share with me. Apparently, my Creator thinks that I have been trying to handle life’s hurdles on my own – which is correct, of course. You might think that the chair of the Prayer Team Ministry would know better than to try and lean on their own knowledge and abilities. Proving once again that even those of us who should know better, are human after all, and sometimes fail to share their worries with God. So, I am trying to improve and will refocus again on the only One who can really help. I will look up – and I hope you will join me.
